John Peeples has been connected to the theatre and comedy community of Houston in one way or another since the late 1980s. Getting his start as a stage tech at Houston's original Comedy Workshop then moving on to the legendary Radio Music Theatre where he eventually filmed, directed, and produced seven complete DVDs of their shows for resale. During that time he also worked as a stagehand at Houston Community College Central campus' Heinen Theatre and did sound design work at the University of Houston Dowtown.

Beginning in the mid 1990's John took an extended break from theatre, got married, and along with his wife Melody helped raise their two children, Sofia and Max. During that time he ran a successful computer consulting business, Peeples Computers, LLC,  and was a house Dad.

​In the fall of 2010 John decided to return to school  - enrolling first at Lone Star College then at the University of Houston's School of Theatre and Dance. He graduated Cum Laude with a BFA in Theatre - Production in December 2016. That same month he landed a job as assistant audio engineer and stage hand, at Houston's own Miller Outdoor Theatre where he stayed until August of 2020.

While still in school John began working in Houston area theatres as a stage hand as well as in various other technical capacities but specializing in sound design and sound tech.

Since 2013 John has designed sound for productions at Horse Head Theatre Co., Catastrophic Theatre, The Landing Theatre Company, Mildred's Umbrella Theatre Company, Queensbury Theatre, St. John's School, Shunay Theatre, 14 Pews, Westbury Christian School, Duchesne Academy of the Sacred Heart, Cone Man Running Productions, Houston's Jewish Community Center, and Houston Community College-SW Campus, among others.

John has been an engineer or sound tech for The Alley Theatre, The Houston Shakespeare Festival, Miller Outdoor Theatre, Diverse Works, Main Street Theatre, and the Mid-Town Arts Center (MATCH). to name a few.

John has been nominated twice by the Houston Press for best sound design of the year. Once in 2019 for 'The Hunchback of Seville' (co-nominated with Jon Harvey) - (Mildred's Umbrella Theatre Co.), and in 2015 for 'The Hunchback Variations'  - (Catastrophic Theatre Co.)

John design the sound for the 1st ever Actor's Equity showcase to happen in Houston.

John is a member of TSDCA, USITT, TCG, and AES and he is currently the Lead Sound Engineer at The Alley Theatre.
